ROADIS in VIABAHIA: together in the fight against COVID-19

VIABAHIA, in partnership with VITALMED, the Federal Road Police (PRF) and the Social Service for Transport and the National Service for Learning Transport (SEST SENAT) is developing on the ground – from 27/03 to next April 3rd – a campaign aimed at professional drivers, who guarantee the supply of goods and food throughout Brazil.

These initiatives aim at offering basic care to drivers, care and help in preventing the expansion of COVID-19. To date, the campaign is being implemented in the area of Feira de Santana and Vitória da Conquista.

During the campaign, first aid kits, masks and gloves are distributed free of charge to facilitate the protection of all users who request it.

Results of the first weekend

During the first three days of the campaign, more than 700 truck drivers were treated by VIABAHIA employees, and none of them showed any symptoms of carrying the coronavirus.

In the attention of the drivers, their body temperature was measured and a medical interview was carried out to probe about possible symptoms: fever, pain, cough and respiratory insufficiency.

In addition, users were given a brief training on basic hygiene measures, how to wash their hands correctly and how to maintain the vehicle safely, in order to prevent possible contagion.

If any suspicious case is detected, VIABAHIA and VITALMED will immediately activate the protocols determined by the Ministry of Health and the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA), for the contact and handling of patients with this disease.
