ROADIS, a leading multinational in the private promotion of highway concessions, has reached an agreement for the acquisition of the remaining 50% stake, currently owned by an affiliate of Mota-Engil, in the management of the Perote Xalapa Toll Road (COPEXA), tasked with operating, preserving and maintaining the Perote-Banderilla motorway and the Xalapa Bypass in the state of Veracruz (Mexico).
For José Antonio Labarra, Chief Executive Officer of ROADIS, “this acquisition is part of our growth strategy, and it shows our long-term commitment to connectivity, development and economic growth in Mexico“.
With this agreement, subject to approval by regulatory authorities, ROADIS will consolidate 100% stake in COPEXA, the state’s safest and most modern motorway, used by nearly 5,500 vehicles daily. This road provides a safe route for tourists and the transport of goods between the centre of the country and the port of Veracruz. The concession also includes the Xalapa belt road, which frees the city from heavy traffic, reducing vehicle operation and maintenance costs, trip lengths and polluting emissions.
The transaction enhances ROADIS’ commitment to the development of a safe and modern road infrastructure in Mexico, a country in which ROADIS already manages more than 160 kilometres of motorways.
In the state of Nuevo León, ROADIS manages the Monterrey-Saltillo Motorway, which, in the last 12 months, has invested more than 800 million pesos to make it an even safer road. It is also building the Santa Catarina Viaduct, a project that is 100% financed by ROADIS with an investment of seven billion Mexican pesos.
Yet again, ROADIS reaffirms its corporate purpose of creating value in the communities where it operates through its investments and by managing major infrastructure projects across the world, always guided by the principle of sustainable operation.
