As the result of an agreement signed last November, ROADIS is collaborating with the Real Madrid Foundation in the development of the Kheadah Socio-Sporting School in the south of Calcutta.
On 17 January our SBU Head-Asia, Nithya Appakudal, accompanied by the CFO of Asia, Alvaro Santos, visited the Kheadah Socio-Sporting School in Calcutta which aims to promote ethical values and social integration among youngsters aged between 5 and 17, regardless of their skills, capacities or sporting abilities, always working to ensure the inclusion of the less fortunate.
In addition to Nithya and Alvaro, the visit was attended by the President of the Institute for Indian Mother and Child (IIMC) in Spain, José Muriana, the Director of the International Area of the Real Madrid Foundation (FRM), Rosa Roncal and the founder and Director of the IIMC Dr. Sujit Brahmochary.
The tour commenced in the IIMC centre, where they were had the opportunity to see first-hand the hospital, the fostering programme, the sewing centre and the nursery. After lunch they went to Kheadah to visit the “Sikshangan Challapara” IIMC School and the boarding house. From there they walked to the headquarters of the FRM Socio-Sporting School where the children welcomed the delegation with a flag raising ceremony; they visited the football pitch and met the school’s coaches who led a training session with the children, with the collaboration of Ignacio Abascal, an international football coach with the FRM. To end the event they enjoyed tea with the children.
The Kheadah School was founded in April 2011. It is located in a rural area in the south of Calcutta and its local partner is the IIMC. This School takes in 173 boys and girls aged between 5 and 17, who now have the opportunity to take part in football training sessions at the end of the school day.
