Moving forward in the development and implementation of our sustainability strategy.
As part of the Sustainability Master Plan 2020-2023 (SMP) environmental care action plan, ROADIS has signed a commitment to decarbonise its operations aligning itself with The Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).
Signing this commitment letter involves the implementation of a series of measures that will enable us to reduce our emissions in the short and long term in all our assets, and to neutralise residual emissions, in accordance with the requirements set out in the initiative.
These measures have been detailed in the ROADIS Emissions Reduction Plan, which was approved by the Board of Directors last July. The plan’s main objective is to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2040.
In the coming months we will submit to SBTi for approval our decarbonisation targets defined in our Emissions Reduction Plan, which will become our roadmap in the fight against climate change.
Through the commitment made and by setting net emissions targets, ROADIS joins the “Business Ambition for 1.5ºC” (which aims to limit the increase in global temperatures to 1.5ºC) and UNFCCC Race to Zero (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change; zero net carbon emissions goal) campaigns promoted by a coalition of United Nations agencies
This initiative allows companies to set ambitious emission reduction targets in line with the latest climate research (such as the from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report). According to the latest studies, there is still time to limit the increase in global temperature to 1.5ºC. To do this, emissions must be halved quickly and decisively by 2030 and the net zero target must be achieved by 2050.
SBTi is a collaborative initiative between the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute and the World Wide Fund for Nature, and coordinates efforts with companies around the world, taking action on climate issues in the framework of the Business Ambition for 1.5°C campaign.
Along with these commitments and initiatives, ROADIS aspires to be a leader in the transition to a more responsible and sustainable economic model. In addition, the company encourages other organisations and companies to align themselves with science and SBTi’s 1.5°C targets.
We continue to advance in our commitment to sustainability!
