ROADIS will manage 10 highways after completing the acquisition of 2 assets in Portugal

11 May 2018

ROADIS, a leading multinational developer, operator and manager of highway concessions, announced today that it has completed the acquisition from MSF Group and Lena Group of their respective equity stakes in Portugal´s Auto Estradas do Atlantico (AEA) and Auto Estradas do Litoral Oeste (AELO).

This transaction marks ROADIS’ first investment in Portugal and increases its exposure in developed markets. The ROADIS portfolio now includes 10 concessions in six countries across three continents.

The transaction closed after obtaining all authorizations and approvals from the relevant authorities and financial entities.

The Auto Estradas do Atlantico (AEA) is comprised of two toll highways, the A8 and the A15, which span across an overall length of 170 kilometres. The A8 is a key highway in Portugal’s economic corridor between Lisbon and Porto, acting primarily as a main artery for commuters travelling to Lisbon from the surrounding suburban neighbourhoods. The A15 links the towns of Caldas de Rainha and Santarem, acting as a complementary axis to the north-south routes. The concession contract commenced in 1998 and expires in 2028.

The Auto Estradas do Litoral Oeste (AELO) operates under an availability-based payment framework and spans a total 102 kilometres from Portugal’s west coast to its interior. It is comprised of a series of highways that provide a connection between the main north-to-south motorways, including the A1, A8 and A17 in the Leiria region, one of Portugal’s most important tourist regions. The concession contract commenced in 2013 and expires in 2039.
